Alpha-estradiol, also known as 17α-Estradiol, or alphaestradiol, or alfatradiol, is the stereoisomer of estradiol(Beta-Estradiol)
It is a white to off-white powder soluble in organic solvents, such as DMF, DMSO, and ethanol.
Alpha-Estradiol VS Beta-Estradiol?
There are two types of isomers of estradiol in the market, the alpha type, and beta type, and yes, they are enantiomers.
Since alpha type is more expensive with a more difficult synthesis process, the point is: how can you be sure you are buying the right molecule?
Since the alpha and beta-type are isomers, they are like twins and, if you are not an expert on them, it is not easy to tell the differences by counting the number of hydrogens through 1HNMR.
But as one of the leading estradiol experts in China, we have listed the analysis methods you can use to run the tests:
#1. Specific optical rotations:
The easiest way to tell if the molecule is alpha-type or not should be the test of optical rotation.
Get a solution of 10mg per mL in dioxane and calculate its specific rotations.
The rotation of the alpha-type is about +51~+56 degrees, but the beta-type is +76~+83 degrees.
#2. Melting Range:
By their melting-point test, you can also tell which is which.
The melting range of alphaestradiol is 223~229 degrees celsius, while the melting range of beta-type is 76~83 degrees. So you know it is easier to melt the beta-type.
#3. HPLC/1HNMR against Reference Substances:
HPLC and 1HNMR are commonly used as the identification methods for many molecules.
In this case, you will need the reference substances to do the comparison.
The downside of Reference substances is that they are super expensive.
Combing the testing results of melting range and specific rotation, now all you need to do is to test it by 1HNMR.
If the chemical structure is correct and the testing results of the specific rotation/melting range correspond to the data above, you are buying the alpha-type indeed.

#1. Lead time:
For orders of 1kilo or less, repacking will be arranged within 2 days after your order confirmation.
Once the sample is repacked, it is ready to be shipped out.
For orders of over 5kilo, you might want to confirm the lead time before placing the order with us.

#2. Shipping methods
About the ways of shipping, there are 2 main options left due to its small quantity.
It will either be shipped by FedEx or by airplane.
FedEx is willing to ship it because it is a safe or common chemical to be shipped by air.
#3. Packing and labeling
For orders of kilos, this product can be packed into bags or bottles.
The buyers will decide the packings, no extra charges for bottles though.
