What Is Alfatradiol (17 Alpha Estradiol/17α-Estradiol)?
Alfatradiol, also known as 17 alpha estradiol, 17α-Estradiol, or alpha-estradiol, is the stereoisomer of estradiol (Beta-Estradiol).
It means that alfatradiol is the mirror image of beta-estradiol; they differ only in the configuration of the 17-position hydroxy group.
It may be challenging to explain, but if you examine the chemical structure of beta-estradiol, you will see the differences.
Alpha-Estradiol vs Beta-Estradiol
There are two types of estradiol isomers in the market, alpha, and beta, and yes, they are enantiomers.
Since alpha type is more expensive and has a more difficult synthesis process, How can you be sure you are buying the right molecule?
Since the alpha and beta-type are isomers, they are like twins, and if you are not an expert on them, it is not easy to tell the differences by counting the number of hydrogens through 1HNMR.
But as one of the leading estradiol experts in China, we have listed the analysis methods you can use to run the tests:
#1. Specific optical rotations:
The easiest way to tell if the molecule is alpha-type or not should be the test of optical rotation.
Get a solution of 10mg per mL in dioxane and calculate its specific rotations.
The rotation of the alpha-type is about +51~+56 degrees, but the beta-type is +76~+83 degrees.
#2. Melting Range:
By their melting-point test, you can also tell which is which.
The melting range of alphaestradiol is 223~229 degrees Celsius, while the melting range of beta-type is 76~83 degrees. So, you know, it is easier to melt the beta-type.
#3. HPLC/1HNMR against Reference Substances:
HPLC and 1HNMR are the common identification methods for many molecules.
In this case, you will need the reference substances to compare.
The downside of Reference substances is that they are super expensive.
After combining the testing results of melting range and specific rotation, you can now test it by 1HNMR.
If the chemical structure is correct and the testing results for the specific rotation/melting range correspond to the above data, you are buying the alpha-type.

#1. Reference Substances or Working Standards:
We don’t sell 99.99% pure powders, but you can use them as reference substances for HPLC testing.
For this purity, you may need to check reagent companies for details.
But the price can’t be low, as we don’t see any suppliers.
If you need 99.99% or purer powder, you can try purifying 99% powder; then you may get what you need.

How Will Your 17 Alpha Estradiol Be Shipped?
#1. Lead time:
For orders of 1kilo or less, we will arrange repacking within 2 days after your order confirmation.
Once we finish repacking the sample, it will be shipped out.
For orders over 5 kilos, please confirm the lead time before placing the order with us.
A good shipping schedule will avoid troubles for your supply chain.
#2. Shipping methods
Regarding the ways of shipping, there are two main options left due to the small quantity.
It will either be shipped by FedEx or by airplane.
FedEx is willing to ship it because it is a safe or common chemical to be shipped by air.
#3. Packing and labeling
This product can be packed into bags or bottles for kilo orders.
The buyers will decide on the packing, no extra charges for bottles, though.
Some buyers may worry about the possible breakage of glass bottles, but that will not happen to our HDPE or fluorinated bottles, which are firm and steady.
Then, there is the labeling: buyers can send us the label format before shipping.
Our default label will be standard labeling with PRODUCT NAME, NET WT., BATCH NO., MFG DATE, EXP DATE, MADE IN CHINA, etc., along with our company name and logo. Please inform us in your PO if you need a neutral label without our company name.
#4. Customs Clearance and Customs Fees
As chemicals are a complicated issue in every country, all buyers should at least consult their import brokers before importing chemicals.
Or, customs clearance will be an overwhelming nightmare: your goods can get stuck in Customs for months of inspection.
Typically, FedEx will help you with the clearance and submit TSCA or other papers required by Customs Authorities, but they can’t do everything.
You need to know what you are doing.
Though we have DDU or DDP terms for specific countries, these services are unsuitable for small orders.

Why 17 Alpha estradiol For Hair-loss?
Although 17 alpha-estradiol is the weaker version of estradiol compared to 17-beta-estradiol, about 100-fold less estrogenic, it works wonders for treating hair loss.
17-α-estradiol can effectively inhibit 5α-reductase, which is essential in regulating hair growth.
Plenty of YouTube videos show comparisons of before-and-after hair growth and conditions after using minoxidil and alfa estradiol.
Many people have grown new hair with alfatradiol after ditching minoxidil when it was not working.
